Croire que - French subjunctive?

Does croire que take the French subjunctive?

Yes and no!

Croire que is followed by the French subjunctive only in negative sentences and in questions with inversion.
In affirmative sentences, the verb is conjugated in the indicative.

Example

Croire que – To believe that

Affirmation: Je crois qu’il vient à la fête ce soir.
I believe he is coming to the party tonight.

Negation: Je ne crois pas qu’il vienne à la fête ce soir.
I don’t believe he is coming to the party tonight.

Question with inversion: Crois-tu qu’il vienne à la fête ce soir ?
Do you believe he is coming to the party tonight?
