Estimer que - French subjunctive?

Does estimer que take the French subjunctive?

Yes and no!

Estimer que is followed by the French subjunctive only in negative sentences and in questions with inversion.
In affirmative sentences, the verb is conjugated in the indicative.

Example

Estimer que – To estimate that

Affirmative: Le contracteur estime que les travaux coûtent plus de 1000 dollars.
The contractor estimates that the work will cost more than $1,000.

Negation: Le contracteur n’estime pas que les travaux coûtent plus de 1000 dollars.
The contractor does not estimate that the work will cost more than $1,000.

Question with inversion: Estime-t-il que les travaux coûtent plus de 1000 dollars ?
Does he estimate that the works cost more than $1,000?
